Gregg I. Shavitz is the founder of the Shavitz Law Group, P.A.  Mr. Shavitz is an experienced trial attorney who litigates both individual overtime cases and collective/class actions seeking the recovery of unpaid overtime wages.  Because of his intimate knowledge and understanding of the Fair Labor Standards Act, lawyers throughout Florida and other States across the country including New York, New Jersey, and California regularly seek co-counseling relationships with Mr. Shavitz on wage related litigation matters arising primarily in Federal Court.

The illegal employment practices challenged by Mr. Shavitz and the firm in both individual cases and collective/class actions include:  the refusal to pay all of statutorily required overtime wages owed to non-exempt employees in positions ranging from tire technicians to waste diposal & recycling drivers; employers’ unauthorized deductions from an employee’s earned wages for meal breaks not actually taken; employers requiring “off the clock” work to be performed without compensation; misclassification of salaried employees as being “exempt” from overtime despite the actual duties they perform; and attempts to substitute “comp time” for overtime pay.
